NIS America has officially confirmed that Ys X: Proud Nordics is heading west in early 2026, launching on PC and Nintendo Switch 2. 
Originally released in Japan on July 31, 2025, the game arrives as the definitive edition of Ys X: Nordics, which debuted internationally in October 2024.
This upgraded version isn’t just a repackage. Players can expect enhanced graphics, refined performance, and quality-of-life updates that address fan feedback. Proud Nordics also introduces brand-new mechanics and fresh content, giving even those who played the earlier edition a reason to dive back in.
At the heart of the story is the red-haired adventurer Adol Christin, once again setting sail into danger. Joined by Norman Karja, the pair must rally a group of allies to confront the mysterious and relentless Griegr threatening the Obelia Gulf. Their mission blends exploration, fast-paced combat, and narrative depth in ways that long-time fans and newcomers alike can appreciate.
The Ys franchise has been experimenting in recent entries, and this release continues that push forward. Wccftech’s Francesco De Meo praised Ys X: Nordics as a major step for the series, highlighting its stronger focus on storytelling and a more complex combat system. While not every longtime fan was sold on those changes, the general consensus was that Falcom delivered one of the most memorable adventures in the saga’s history.
With Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana still fresh in fans’ minds from earlier this year, the arrival of Proud Nordics ensures that the action RPG series keeps its momentum alive. For many players outside Japan, early 2026 will be their first chance to experience Adol’s latest adventure in its most complete form yet.
