Xiaomi 16 and 16 Pro Set for Major 50MP Selfie Camera Upgrade

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its next-generation flagships, the Xiaomi 16 and 16 Pro, and this time, the front-facing camera is getting the spotlight. Both devices are rumored to debut before the end of September with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, but it’s the massive selfie upgrade that’s turning heads.

The new 50 MP selfie camera promises crystal-clear shots, boasting 4K60 video recording, a wide field-of-view, and the rare but highly desired autofocus feature – something many brands still skip, even on premium models.

This should be a game-changer for vloggers, streamers, and anyone who’s tired of blurry close-ups, especially in low-light environments.

On the back, the Xiaomi 16 is said to pack a 50 MP main camera with a 1/1.3″ sensor, alongside 50 MP ultrawide and 50 MP telephoto shooters (potentially with periscope zoom). The 16 Pro will share the same main resolution but add ultra high dynamic range processing and a ToF sensor for better depth detection. Previous leaks also hint at a hefty 7,000 mAh battery and a flat OLED display around 6.3 inches.

With this overhaul, Xiaomi seems ready to silence critics who’ve wondered why top-tier phones can’t match older mid-rangers in autofocus. Whether you’re after cinematic vlogs, razor-sharp selfies, or all-day endurance, the Xiaomi 16 series might just check every box – unless, of course, you’re one of those dreamers wishing for no selfie cam at all and a second screen on the back instead.
