vivo has already shifted attention to its next mid-range contender, the Y500, kicking off a teaser campaign in China. The timing is curious – the Y400 4G arrived only last month, and the Y400 5G barely two weeks ago – but this lineup shuffle comes down to market strategy. 
While the Y400 models target international markets, the Y500 is reserved for vivo’s home turf.
For now, official details remain under wraps, with the only confirmed talking point being durability. The first teaser images highlight the phone’s design, and it’s clear vivo drew inspiration from its premium X200 series. The Y500’s camera island mirrors the look of the X200, X200 Pro, and X200 Ultra, giving the budget-friendly device a flagship-style appearance.
Of course, despite the premium aesthetics, the Y500 is positioned as a mid-ranger, so the similarities are mostly skin deep. More concrete specs and launch details should surface in the coming days, but vivo’s strategy is obvious: bring a taste of flagship design into a more affordable package for the Chinese market.
