Vivo is pushing the limits of mobile videography once again with its upcoming X300 Pro, and the latest teasers highlight just how far the brand is willing to go to challenge industry leaders.
Vivo X300 Pro Showcases 4K 120fps Dolby Vision and Log Recording
The company has shared two impressive 4K clips captured at 120fps, showing not only its raw technical power but also its ambition to redefine what cinematic video on a smartphone can look like.

The first clip, recorded in Dolby Vision HDR, demonstrates the power of slow-motion fireworks against a night sky, creating a dramatic, almost surreal effect. The second sample takes things a step further by combining a selective slow-motion effect with the advantages of 10-bit Log video. For those unfamiliar, Log recording preserves a wider dynamic range and more nuanced detail, which means editors have far more freedom to tweak contrast, brightness, and color during post-production without losing quality. This feature has traditionally been limited to professional cameras, so seeing it on a phone raises the bar for the entire market.

The X300 Pro doesn’t stop at video modes. Powered by MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9500 chipset and enhanced with Vivo’s V3+ imaging chip, the phone promises both lightning-fast autofocus and advanced image processing. The hardware lineup is equally bold: a customized 200MP 1/1.4” Samsung telephoto sensor and a Sony LYT-828 1/1.3” main sensor give photographers flexibility and versatility. While Vivo hasn’t specified which camera was used for the demos, both sensors are capable of impressive results.

Perhaps the most intriguing addition is the rumored 4K @ 60fps cinematic portrait mode, which enhances natural lens bokeh with software-driven blur for a more dramatic storytelling effect. Vivo is billing this as the world’s first smartphone with such a mode, along with 4K 120fps cinematic slow-motion, Dolby Vision HDR, and 10-bit Log – features that could seriously rival or even surpass Apple’s so-called Ultra line.

Some users remain skeptical, pointing out issues with sky rendering or the fact that other apps like MotionCam Pro already push mobile hardware to its limits with raw recording. Others, however, are excited by the sheer specs and are even jokingly wishing Vivo would launch a 2TB storage variant to handle these massive video files. Whether these features translate to real-world success will become clearer after the Dimensity 9500 announcement on September 22, followed by the expected launch of the X300 series in early October.
