The Witcher Season 4 Premiere Date, Cast Updates, and First Look at Liam Hemsworth
Crawford fight, underscoring just how much weight the streamer is putting behind the series despite all the turbulence that has surrounded it. Alongside the date reveal, Netflix dropped new key art, a set of promotional photos, and, most importantly, our very first clip of Liam Hemsworth in the role of Geralt of Rivia.

The brief but adrenaline-charged clip shows Hemsworth’s Geralt locked in battle with a nightwraith, a moment designed to reassure fans that the series is not losing its monster-hunting heart. The stills, meanwhile, give us our first look at Laurence Fishburne stepping into the franchise as the enigmatic vampire Regis, an ally who holds major significance in Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels. Fans have been waiting to see how Fishburne’s gravitas would play out in a fantasy setting, and these first images seem to answer with promise.

Of course, the biggest point of discussion remains Henry Cavill’s departure after Season 3. Cavill’s final scenes as Geralt saw him walk into the wilderness accompanied by Jaskier (Joey Batey) and Milva (Meng’er Zhang). Now, with Hemsworth taking over, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich insists the story is on track for an emotional two-season arc designed to reunite Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri in a way that feels definitive. Speaking to Tudum, Hissrich framed this as the beginning of a journey meant to bring the fractured family together, possibly for good.

The official synopsis for Season 4 makes clear that the world of the Continent has been shattered by the events of Season 3. Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri are split apart by war and enemies, their personal quests taking them down diverging roads filled with new allies and hidden dangers. The theme of found family and survival under fire is expected to define the season’s eight episodes, each running about 50 minutes, before the saga concludes with the already confirmed fifth and final season.

Alongside Hemsworth and Fishburne, familiar faces return: Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri, Joey Batey as Jaskier, and an expansive supporting cast including Eamon Farren, Anna Shaffer, Mimî M Khayisa, Graham McTavish, Sharlto Copley, and many more. This large ensemble promises plenty of subplots and political intrigue to fill out the brutal landscapes and tense battles that fans expect from the series.

The reactions so far have been mixed. Some longtime fans argue the show lost its soul after Season 3, while others are cautiously optimistic, praising Hemsworth’s physical presence even if his accent and costume choices remain divisive. The clip, though short, sparked debate about whether the CGI has seen improvements since earlier seasons. What is clear is that, love it or hate it, The Witcher still commands attention – and come October 30, the debate over Hemsworth’s Geralt will truly begin.
