Scary Movie 6: Anna Faris and Regina Hall Officially Returning

After nearly two decades, the queens of parody are back. Anna Faris and Regina Hall, the comedic duo who defined the first two Scary Movie films, are officially returning for Scary Movie 6.

The news dropped when Marlon Wayans-star, co-writer, and one of the original creators-teased their comeback with a nostalgic Instagram post featuring the actresses and a simple caption: “SM6 👀.”

The project reunites Marlon with his brother Shawn Wayans (not Damon, as some fans mistakenly noted) alongside long-time collaborator Ricky Alvarez. The Wayans Brothers, who wrote and starred in the first two films, helped shape the early 2000s spoof boom that delivered instant classics like Don’t Be a Menace, Scary Movie, and Scary Movie 2. Their departure after the second film left a void that later sequels struggled to fill-something fans never forgot.

Now, with Michael Tiddes directing (known for A Haunted House and its sequel), the franchise is steering back to its original roots in slapstick parody. Fans are hopeful this marks a revival not just for Scary Movie but for the entire spoof comedy genre, which fizzled out after weaker entries like Date Movie and Meet the Spartans.

Set for release on June 12, 2026, Scary Movie 6 has audiences buzzing with speculation. Will Simon Rex or Anthony Anderson return? Will modern cameos like Alexandra Daddario or Sydney Sweeney step in to keep the tradition alive? One thing is certain: with Faris and Hall back at the center, the odds of this sequel actually being funny just skyrocketed.
