Samsung has officially begun rolling out its new One UI 8 software, based on Android 16, and the update is reaching both high-end and entry-level devices. This move shows how Samsung is continuing its policy of providing broad support across its ecosystem, ensuring even budget phones do not get left behind.
The first wave of updates has arrived in South Korea, as is typically the case, before spreading to global markets.
The devices leading the rollout include the premium Galaxy Tab S9 series alongside the affordable Galaxy A15 and Galaxy A16 smartphones. For Galaxy Tab S9 owners, the international release is expected to follow quickly in the coming days. However, users of the A15 and A16 may have to wait a little longer, possibly several weeks, as Samsung often staggers updates for its lower-priced models to ensure stability.
One UI 8 introduces numerous improvements such as deeper customization options, refined animations, enhanced privacy controls, and smoother multitasking performance. For tablets like the Galaxy Tab S9, users will especially benefit from improved productivity tools and better integration with Samsung’s ecosystem of apps. Meanwhile, A15 and A16 users will gain access to a refreshed interface and performance tweaks that should make these affordable phones feel much more capable despite their modest hardware.
To check for the update manually, users should head into Settings, open the Software update section, and tap on Download and install. Alternatively, those who prefer not to rush can simply wait for an automatic notification, which will appear once the update is ready in their region.
Samsung’s commitment to rolling out One UI 8 to such a diverse range of devices underscores its strategy of extending the life cycle of its products. By supporting both its flagship tablets and its budget smartphones with Android 16, the company is signaling that a consistent software experience is just as important as the hardware itself. For consumers, this approach not only boosts the longevity of their devices but also makes Samsung’s lineup more attractive compared to competitors who often neglect budget tiers after launch.
