Samsung’s One UI 8.5 Beta Could Arrive Sooner Than Expected – And It’s Packed With Promising Upgrades

Samsung seems determined to surprise its fans this year. According to new reports, the company might release its One UI 8.5 beta program far earlier than expected, marking one of the most accelerated testing cycles in recent memory. The final version of One UI 8.5 is anticipated to debut alongside the Galaxy S26 lineup early next year, but insiders suggest that users could start testing the beta before the end of November – an unusually early window for Samsung’s software rollout schedule.

Industry sources, including SamMobile, claim that Samsung is preparing to open the One UI 8.5 beta as early as the week of November 24. If true, that means the program will kick off almost a month ahead of the timeline followed last year with One UI 7, which entered beta only in December. The delay of that version caused a cascade of issues – from frustrated testers to a stable build that didn’t reach users until April 2025. This year, Samsung seems determined to fix that.

Part of this renewed efficiency comes from internal restructuring. Samsung reportedly revamped its development process after learning from the slow One UI 7 cycle. The company has since streamlined testing, automation, and bug-tracking workflows, leading to faster adaptation of Android 16 features. The first stable version of One UI 8, built on Android 16, launched with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 back in July, with older devices receiving it by September. That’s a major improvement over past schedules and a promising sign for what’s to come.

While Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything officially, it’s almost certain that devices currently running One UI 8 will qualify for the 8.5 update, as both versions share Android 16 foundations. Every compatible iPhone – including the iPhone 11 from 2019 – was eligible, giving Apple a clear edge in consistency and transparency. The update reportedly brings a range of enhancements, from smarter connectivity – such as seamless switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data – to a set of pro-grade camera upgrades inspired by Samsung’s Galaxy Ultra line.
