Samsung is preparing to cross another boundary in foldable phones with what appears to be its first tri-folding smartphone, expected to launch as the Galaxy Z TriFold.
While Samsung has been teasing multi-panel concepts for years, a series of fresh leaks finally paint a coherent picture of the commercial device – and it looks like the company is ready to move beyond the classic book-style Galaxy Z Fold line.
According to renowned leaker Evan Blass, the Galaxy Z TriFold combines a 6.5-inch external cover display with a massive 10-inch inner canvas created by three folding segments. The outer screen is said to hit a searing 2,600 nits of peak brightness, making it easier to read outdoors in direct sunlight, while the inner OLED panel should reach around 1,600 nits, which is still brighter than many current tablets and laptops.
Photography is another area where Samsung seems determined to flex. The tri-fold is rumored to carry a 200 MP primary rear camera, matching the resolution of Samsung’s ultra-flagship phones and promising huge amounts of detail for cropping, night shots, and high-resolution video. Backing all of this is a rated 5,437 mAh battery, which should help offset the power demands of the triple-panel display and high-end Snapdragon chipset expected to run the show.
Blass also claims the three unfolded panels will not be perfectly identical in thickness: when laid flat, they reportedly measure roughly 3.9 mm, 4.0 mm, and 4.2 mm. Fold everything together and earlier leaks suggest the Galaxy Z TriFold will come in at about 14 mm thick. That is chunky compared with a regular slab phone, but surprisingly reasonable for a device that can transform from a pocketable handset into a small 10-inch tablet.
Samsung has already quietly shown the Galaxy Z TriFold at a closed-door event in Korea, giving partners and invited guests a first look at the new form factor. Footage from that showcase has circulated online, offering glimpses of how the hinge works and how the software rearranges itself as you fold and unfold the three sections.
For now, the launch details remain unofficial, but reports point to an initial release in South Korea around 5 December, with wider availability likely to follow later. If the leaks hold up, the Galaxy Z TriFold could become Samsung’s most futuristic Galaxy yet – a device aimed at power users, early adopters, and anyone who wants a phone, tablet, and mini-PC experience in a single, ambitious gadget.
