Samsung has surprised its tablet users by releasing the stable version of One UI 8.0, based on Android 16, for the Galaxy Tab S10+ earlier than originally announced.
While the company had scheduled the rollout for October, users in Korea can already download and install the major update – a move that positions Samsung as one of the few brands consistently delivering updates ahead of its own roadmap.
The update, which weighs in at 3.47GB and carries the firmware number X820OXM4CVI5, follows closely on the heels of the One UI 8 rollout for Galaxy smartphones. The Galaxy S25 series was the first to receive the update, and Samsung had indicated that other regions, including Brazil and India, would see the software in the coming weeks. The early release for the Tab S10+ suggests the brand is accelerating its update cycle, which will be welcome news for owners of high-end Galaxy tablets who rely on them for productivity, creativity, and entertainment.
One UI 8 brings a host of meaningful improvements. The interface is sleeker, with smoother animations and refined design touches that make everyday use feel more modern and responsive. Camera and multimedia apps have been enhanced, making it easier to capture photos and videos with pro-level tools, while sharing and transferring files between devices is faster and more intuitive. Multitasking has also received a boost: split-screen, pop-up view, and app continuity across devices are now more seamless, catering to users who push their tablets to function as laptop replacements.
Privacy and security are central to the Android 16-based release. Users gain expanded control over app permissions, improved transparency around background activity, and Samsung Knox integration improvements for enterprise users. Accessibility has also been expanded, ensuring that features like voice guidance, magnification, and hearing assistance tools are more customizable than ever.
The rollout in Korea is just the start. Samsung typically staggers major software updates to ensure stability across regions, but international Galaxy Tab S10+ users can likely expect to see the update notification in the coming weeks. As always, the installation process is simple: head to Settings » Software update » Download and install. Given the large size of the update, users are advised to connect to Wi-Fi and back up their important files before proceeding.
This accelerated rollout highlights Samsung’s growing confidence in its software development and testing pipelines. For Galaxy Tab S10+ owners, the arrival of One UI 8 ahead of schedule means they can immediately enjoy the refinements and security of Android 16, setting a benchmark for other manufacturers in how quickly major tablets can transition to new software platforms.
