The Samsung Galaxy S26 series continues to stir discussion as new renders of the Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Ultra emerge, following yesterday’s appearance of molds and renders for the Edge model. Samsung seems determined to shake up its flagship lineup for 2026, even if the changes are controversial. The company has reportedly dropped the traditional Plus variant, repositioning the base model as the new ‘Pro,’ a move that already has fans debating whether the rebrand makes sense or if it’s simply a marketing play.

The Galaxy S26 Pro, according to leaks, comes in at a slim 6.7mm thickness, featuring a 6.27-inch display with thinner bezels and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Storage options are rumored to max out at 512GB with up to 12GB of RAM. The camera package includes a 50MP main shooter, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP telephoto lens – a combination that many long-time Samsung fans point out has been in circulation since the S22 era, raising concerns about stagnation. A 4,300 mAh battery supports 45W wired charging and the newer Qi2 magnetic wireless standard. Under the hood, the phone is tipped to carry either Samsung’s Exynos 2600 or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, depending on the market.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra, meanwhile, remains the flagship powerhouse, albeit with design tweaks that some find underwhelming. Its 163.4 x 77.9 x 7.8 mm profile brings slightly more rounded corners compared to the squarer S25 Ultra, a shift that many users argue reduces screen real estate and makes cases less practical. Still, the specs are impressive: a 6.9-inch display with third-generation anti-reflective glass, up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB storage, and a massive 200MP main camera. This is paired with a 50MP periscope lens boasting a wider aperture, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 12MP updated short telephoto. The Ultra also carries forward a 5,000 mAh battery but with an upgrade to 60W wired charging and improved magnetic wireless support, powered globally by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.

The S26 Edge, while not pictured in this round of leaks, is described as an even thinner 5.5mm device with a 6.7-inch QHD+ screen at 120Hz, up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, a 200MP main camera, and the same Qi2 wireless system. While sleek on paper, skepticism remains: critics argue the ‘Edge’ branding feels like filler now that the Plus is gone.

Reactions to the leaks have been mixed. Some welcome the incremental upgrades like improved periscope zoom and magnetic charging, while many others dismiss the Pro model as little more than a rebranded base phone with outdated cameras. The Ultra, despite its monster specs, draws criticism for design decisions that feel like a step backward. The absence of bigger battery jumps or truly new camera sensors has fueled complaints that Samsung is prioritizing naming gimmicks over genuine innovation. Whether these design choices and hardware tweaks will satisfy a market increasingly drawn to bold Chinese competitors remains to be seen.
