Samsung has officially rolled out the highly anticipated One UI 8 update for the Galaxy S22 series, bringing the 2022 flagship line into the same software generation as the latest Galaxy S25 and S23 families. The update, based on Android 16, first debuted on the Galaxy S25 lineup in mid-September, reached S23 models last month, and has now started appearing for S22 devices across Europe and Türkiye. The build version, labeled S90xBXXUIGYI7, weighs around 3.1GB and includes the September 1, 2025 security patch – ensuring users stay protected with Samsung’s latest fixes.
While many owners are excited, there’s a bittersweet note: this is the last major Android update the S22 series will receive.
Samsung initially promised four major Android updates for these devices, and since they launched with Android 12, One UI 8 marks the end of that cycle. Future support will focus on security patches for a while longer, keeping the phones secure but without further OS upgrades. Still, Samsung’s recent policy shift means newer models, such as the S24 and S25, enjoy up to seven years of software support – a massive leap compared to just a few years ago.
Reports from early adopters in Türkiye indicate smooth installation and improved system fluidity, though some users joke about keeping their phones cool during the update to avoid the infamous overheating issues from earlier versions. As Samsung continues to refine One UI, users of the S22 series can still expect a solid and refined experience – a dignified final bow for one of Samsung’s most balanced flagships in recent memory.
