Samsung continues refining its digital ecosystem by updating one of its most practical lifestyle apps – Samsung Food. The latest 2.50.0 update, now available on both the Galaxy Store and Google Play, introduces a thoughtfully redesigned interface for tablets and foldable devices, turning meal planning and recipe management into a smoother, smarter experience.
Alongside usability upgrades, Samsung has also decided to make one of its formerly premium tools, Health Goals, free for all users – a move that reinforces its growing focus on health and wellbeing.
A Smarter Recipe Builder Experience
The centerpiece of the update is a massive refresh to the Recipe Builder, a feature that has become a favorite among home cooks and food enthusiasts. Samsung has added an intelligent auto-complete function that predicts ingredient names as you type. Whether you’re jotting down “tom” or “gar,” the app now instantly suggests “tomato” or “garlic,” speeding up the process and minimizing typing errors. This makes it easier to create, customize, and share recipes – particularly for those who enjoy experimenting in the kitchen or documenting their culinary creations.
Another new addition is the Step Editor, a simplified interface for modifying cooking instructions. Instead of scrolling through clunky text blocks, users can now easily add, rearrange, or rewrite steps, thanks to the improved UI. Samsung has also resolved 11 long-standing bugs that previously disrupted app performance, meaning you can now enjoy a more stable and responsive experience whether you’re cooking with your phone propped up on the counter or using a Family Hub fridge display.
Health Goals Becomes Free for All Users
One of the most consumer-friendly moves in this release is that Samsung has unlocked its Health Goals feature for everyone. Previously reserved for premium subscribers, this feature lets users set personalized calorie intake targets and compare them with the nutritional data of their recipes. For those tracking their diet or managing fitness goals, it’s now far easier to see whether that creamy pasta or hearty smoothie fits into their daily calorie plan.
Samsung Food’s Evolution and Availability
The Samsung Food app’s evolution has been quite interesting. Originally launched as Whisk, a recipe and meal planning platform acquired by Samsung in 2019, it was rebranded as Samsung Food in 2023. Since then, it has become a central part of Samsung’s connected ecosystem, syncing seamlessly across Android, iOS, iPadOS, and even Samsung’s smart devices, such as Family Hub refrigerators, smart monitors, and TVs with AI Home integration. This cross-device functionality allows users to start planning a meal on their phone, view it on a TV, and even check ingredients on the fridge screen – creating an integrated digital kitchen experience.
In essence, this update reflects Samsung’s broader strategy: merging convenience, health, and connectivity into everyday life. The 2.50.0 version of Samsung Food doesn’t just make recipe editing easier – it transforms the app into a more intelligent companion for modern cooking and healthier living.
