Revenge of the Savage Planet Demo Lands on Steam with Major Update

Racoon Logic Studios has dropped a major update for Revenge of the Savage Planet, along with a free PC demo now available on Steam.

The sequel to 2020’s cult favorite Journey to the Savage Planet brings a mix of humor, exploration, and co-op chaos – and this update makes the experience even sharper.

The headline additions include a fully-featured photo mode, giving players freedom to tweak shots, apply edits, and even pose the bizarre alien wildlife for creative captures. For console fans, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S users now get a 60 FPS performance mode, making the planet’s colorful environments smoother than ever. Meanwhile, all platforms gain 40 new customization items for habitat building, allowing players to decorate their in-game base with quirky details.

The free demo rolls out in two parts. The first, live today, offers the opening hour of the campaign, introducing players to the strange world and its satirical tone. A second demo, arriving later, shifts gears with a ‘custom abilities’ mode, letting players jump ahead to experiment with advanced gear, upgrades, and even cooperative play – a perfect chance to see the game at full power.

In a statement, creative director Alex Hutchinson acknowledged the financial squeeze gamers feel: “We know money is tight. So if you’re not sure, try the demo. You’ll get the tutorial, fool around with some late-game abilities, and hopefully see why we worked four years to make this worth more than a couple of coffees.”

Early reviews have praised the game’s wit and charm, though its story beats are lighter. Still, for fans of the first game or newcomers curious about its absurd sci-fi playground, the demo makes it easier than ever to give Revenge of the Savage Planet a try.
