Replaced, the long-awaited 2.5D pixel-art cyberpunk platformer from Sad Cat Studios, has finally locked in a release window: Spring 2026. The news came directly from game director Yura Zhdanovich, who emphasized that the team is now confident the finish line is in sight.
The game will arrive on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
Originally unveiled back in 2021, Replaced immediately caught attention with its moody retro-futuristic visuals and fluid combat. Fans were expecting to dive into the dystopian action in 2022, but the project faced delays far beyond the team’s control. The war in Ukraine had a major impact on the Belarus-based studio, slowing production considerably. What could have been a two-year wait has stretched to five.
Despite the obstacles, Sad Cat Studios has used the extended timeline to refine and expand the game. A new update showcased its evolution from prototype to near-complete build, highlighting improvements in atmosphere, animation, and storytelling. Zhdanovich acknowledged the frustration caused by the delay but stressed that the focus has always been on delivering a memorable experience worthy of the community’s patience.
While the exact release date remains under wraps, fans won’t have to wait too long for more. The studio confirmed that the final trailer will drop later this year, revealing the precise launch day and offering one last look at the dystopian world players will soon be able to explore.
