The company, already known for its gaming-oriented devices with built-in fans, has now introduced the world’s first mass-produced active liquid cooling system for smartphones, combining a miniature pump, advanced air channels, and a heat dissipation system reminiscent of high-end gaming PCs and AI servers.
At its core, this innovation is a genuine, fully active cooling mechanism – not the passive vapor chambers that are often misleadingly called “liquid cooling.” Unlike vapor chambers, which rely on phase-change within sealed metal enclosures, REDMAGIC’s design actually circulates liquid through the device using a piezoelectric ceramic micropump. Durability was another engineering challenge. Dropping a gaming PC isn’t something most people worry about – but dropping a phone? That’s practically inevitable. To ensure that the liquid loop can handle real-world abuse, REDMAGIC developed an ultra-low-temperature bonding process and added anti-puncture membranes, successfully passing tens of thousands of drop tests. In essence, this new system isn’t just a technological showpiece – it’s built to survive the chaotic life of a gaming smartphone user.
The first device to feature this cutting-edge system will be the REDMAGIC 11 Pro series, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. These phones introduce what the brand calls a dual-track cooling system, merging both the new liquid loop and the next-gen Turbo Fan 4.0. The latter alone represents a serious upgrade: an active cooling fan capable of spinning up to 24,000rpm, linked to a large airflow duct and a newly designed 4D vapor chamber heat sink that spans multiple chip regions, including the CPU and GPU.
REDMAGIC also made a breakthrough in waterproofing – an often-overlooked issue for phones with real mechanical fans. Traditionally, moving air systems make water resistance difficult, but the company managed to achieve an IPX8 rating on the Turbo Fan 4.0 setup, making it the first active cooling smartphone capable of withstanding submersion without sacrificing airflow. This combination of cooling power and protection is unprecedented in mobile engineering.
Performance-wise, the numbers are impressive. REDMAGIC claims that the 11 Pro can sustain 90fps gameplay in demanding titles like Wuthering Waves for over two hours at ultra settings, with stability that rivals gaming laptops. The device supports over 200 optimized games at 2K resolution and 144Hz refresh rates, targeting esports-level smoothness and thermal control. These claims aren’t empty marketing – REDMAGIC phones have long served as the official devices for six major esports leagues in China, including CrossFire Mobile Pro League and League of Legends Mobile Super League. Chen Jin, head of Tencent’s K1 CrossFire operations, praised the phones for reducing mid-match disconnects and maintaining consistency during tournaments.
