Smartphone makers have long experimented with bold design choices, but Realme seems ready to push things into even stranger territory with the upcoming Realme GT 8 Pro. The device, expected to launch in October alongside the standard GT 8, has already caught attention not because of its specs but because of its wild camera island that looks uncannily like a robot’s face.
It’s a design that has tech fans both laughing and debating whether Realme is being innovative or just eccentric.
The latest images shared by Digital Chat Station, and later teased officially by Realme, confirm the odd setup. The Pro model’s island features a 50MP main sensor paired with an ultra-wide module that act like “eyes,” while a massive 200MP periscope telephoto sits below like a gaping “mouth.” On either side, small round details – believed by some to be decorative screws but suspected by others to be LED flashes – complete the “robot head” look. Whether intentional or not, this visual personality sets the phone apart in a crowded flagship market.
Design quirks aside, the Realme GT 8 Pro isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s expected to come with a large 6.78-inch AMOLED display, an enormous 8,000mAh battery – something rarely seen in modern flagships – and Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. Earlier leaks also hinted at Ricoh branding for the cameras, though current renders show no such mark. Meanwhile, the vanilla GT 8 should be slightly smaller with a 6.6-inch display, a still-huge 7,000mAh battery, and the outgoing Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
Some users online have already expressed mixed reactions to the design. A few find the robot-face vibe playful and refreshingly different, especially in an era where most phones look nearly identical. Others criticize the placement of the periscope camera and the absence of an obvious flash, calling it impractical or even a potential dust trap. Comparisons with the Nothing Phone series are inevitable, with commenters joking that Realme has gone further down the path of quirky visuals than anyone expected. Whether this design becomes a cult favorite or a quickly forgotten oddity will depend on how well it balances performance, practicality, and personality.

massive downgrade from GT7 Pro looks wise imo
