PlayStation has unveiled the lineup of free games coming to PS Plus Essential in September 2025, and it’s a strong mix for subscribers. Leading the trio is Psychonauts 2, Double Fine’s mind-bending platformer that continues Raz’s surreal adventures inside the human psyche. 
Originally released in 2021, the game was hailed for its creativity and humor, earning acclaim as one of the most imaginative platformers of the last decade.
Joining Psychonauts 2 is Viewfinder, the inventive puzzle title where players manipulate photos to reshape the world around them. It’s a game that plays with perception and perspective, offering a refreshing challenge for puzzle fans.
The third addition is none other than Stardew Valley, the indie farming simulator that became a cultural phenomenon. While it’s been widely available across nearly every platform for years, its presence in PS Plus is still welcome – especially for anyone who has somehow missed out on tending crops, building relationships, and losing hours to its cozy charm.
Subscribers can claim all three games starting September 2, 2025. If you haven’t yet added August’s lineup, including Lies of P, you’ll need to do so by September 1 before the new batch arrives.
Psychonauts 2 might not be the newest release of the trio, but its inclusion is arguably the most exciting. Wccftech’s review at launch called it “absolutely mindblowing” and praised how it “delivers on everything it madly promises.” Pairing that with the universally loved Stardew Valley and the clever brain-bending puzzles of Viewfinder makes this one of the most balanced and appealing PS Plus Essential drops in recent memory.
