PUBG Productions has officially opened the gates to Prologue: Go Wayback! with its Open Beta now live, giving players their first real taste of the studio’s ambitious hardcore survival adventure. While the full Early Access release is still planned for later in 2025, this public test offers the most expansive look yet at the procedurally generated worlds Brendan Greene – better known as PlayerUnknown – has been crafting.
After six months of community playtests via Discord, Greene says the team took fan feedback to heart, adding more exploration options and gameplay features inspired directly by player suggestions. 
The Open Beta now boasts millions of unique maps to explore, promising endless variety for survival enthusiasts.
“We’ve built a great survival experience, and in the months before Early Access, we’ll keep expanding customization options so players can shape their own playstyle,” Greene explained in the announcement.
While it’s not the full launch, Open Beta players can now freely roam untamed wilderness, gather resources, and test their survival instincts.
