Pixel 10 Series: Battery Life and AI Features Revealed

The Pixel 10 series is almost here, and the excitement is building around its battery performance. The Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold will make their debut on August 20th. Google’s Pixel series has evolved significantly, with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro marking a major shift in the company’s approach to competing with the iPhone.

While the Pixel 6 had some issues, such as modem problems and a fingerprint sensor that many users found unreliable, the Pixel 10 is set to address these problems.

One of the biggest changes is the battery. The Pixel 6 Pro had a 5000 mAh battery, which was decent at the time but still didn’t offer all-day power for many users. Google seems to have learned from this, and the Pixel 10 models will feature even larger batteries. The Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL are expected to have significantly better battery performance, with capacity numbers reportedly higher than the Pixel 9 series.

For example, the Pixel 10 is rumored to have a 4835 mAh battery, which is a 6% increase over the Pixel 9’s 4558 mAh. While this doesn’t seem like a huge difference, it translates into just 11 more seconds of runtime (from 49:12 to 49:23). The Pixel 10 Pro, with a 4707 mAh battery, sees a 3.3% increase, improving runtime from 50:44 to 51:09. Meanwhile, the Pixel 10 Pro XL features a 5078 mAh battery, a 2.8% improvement over the Pixel 9 Pro XL’s 4942 mAh, though its runtime dropped slightly from 49:30 to 48:38.

These differences may seem small, but runtime can vary based on settings, apps, and battery age, so results can differ from the numbers on paper. However, Google’s focus on durability is evident as these phones have undergone 1,000 battery cycles and 270 drop tests without any issues. Additionally, the IP68 rating ensures the phones are dustproof and water-resistant up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. With seven years of Android updates guaranteed, the Pixel 10 series promises longevity and reliability.

Beyond hardware, the Pixel 10 line is expected to bring new AI-powered features, continuing Google’s push to integrate advanced AI into their devices. Features like the Magic Eraser and Hold for Me, which were introduced with the Pixel 6, are likely to be improved. While Apple is playing catch-up with its own AI capabilities, the Pixel series has led the way with practical AI tools that make everyday tasks easier. It won’t be long before we see what new AI features the Pixel 10 series will offer.
