Google has finally taken the wraps off the Pixel 10 Pro Fold at its Made by Google 2025 showcase, with Jimmy Fallon hosting the event in a lively twist.

But behind the entertainment, the real star was Google’s most ambitious foldable yet – a device that seems less like an experiment and more like a confident statement that foldables are finally maturing.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold doesn’t reinvent the category but rather perfects it. At first glance, the design echoes last year’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold, but subtle tweaks make it sturdier and more ergonomic. The new gearless hinge not only adds to comfort but also brings durability, with Google claiming it can survive 180,000 folds – roughly 10 years of daily use. Pair that with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and, for the first time in any foldable, an IP68 rating, and you’re looking at a phone built for real-world abuse rather than kid-glove handling.

Power comes from the new Tensor G5 chip paired with 16GB RAM, giving Google room to flex its AI muscle. Features like Magic Cue – which pushes context-aware info before you even ask – and enhanced drag-and-drop multitasking show Google wants its foldable to be more than a big screen. It’s designed to be smarter, more fluid, and more useful day to day.

The displays are another big leap. The 8-inch inner screen hits a blazing 3,000 nits, while the 6.4-inch cover display keeps things practical on the go. Battery life, often the Achilles’ heel of foldables, gets a welcome bump thanks to a 5,015 mAh pack that promises up to 30 hours of use. Add in Qi2 wireless charging, 25W wired speeds, and a new Pixelsnap magnetic accessory system, and you’ve got a phone ready for the future of charging.

Photography isn’t left behind either. The triple-camera system – 48MP main, 10.5MP ultrawide with macro, and 10.8MP telephoto – continues Google’s tradition of computational photography dominance. Expect sharper detail, improved low-light performance, and AI-powered tricks across the board.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold ships October 9, starting at $1,799 for 256GB, with 512GB and 1TB models also available. For color, Google ditched the muted palette of the past for bold Moonstone and Jade finishes that stand out rather than blend in. The message is clear: foldables aren’t fragile toys anymore. They’re ready to go mainstream – and Google wants to lead the way.
