As someone who’s been deeply entrenched in the world of iPhones for years, I recently had my first taste of the Android ecosystem again in 2025, and there’s one feature on the Pixel 10 that has truly won me over: Pixelsnap.
Sure, the Pixel 10 series has received its fair share of praise and criticism, but this innovation is a game-changer for anyone coming from the iPhone world.
For years, I was a proud iPhone addict, holding on to my beloved MagSafe accessories – from power banks to car holders and desk stands. With a collection like that, switching to Android meant facing a tough reality: none of the Android phones I tried had a built-in alternative to MagSafe. I found myself constantly searching for third-party cases to attach these accessories, whether it was for the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, or Vivo X200 Pro. That search was always a hassle, often resulting in dodgy cases from Chinese online retailers. Why? Because nothing quite compared to the convenience and power of MagSafe, and Android had no answer… until now.
Introducing Pixelsnap. The Pixel 10 series now features an embedded magnet system based on the Qi2 standard. This is a huge leap forward for Android. Unlike previous phones that were Qi2-ready but lacked the necessary magnetic alignment, the Pixel 10 has magnets built right into the device, making it a breeze to attach all my MagSafe accessories directly to the back of the phone. What’s even better is that this feature works right out of the box – no case required. Of course, I still recommend a case for added protection, but the fact that you don’t need one for the functionality of Pixelsnap is a huge win.
This advancement comes after years of waiting for Android to catch up with Apple’s MagSafe technology. It’s not a direct competitor to MagSafe but rather a result of a collaboration between Apple and the Wireless Power Consortium, aiming to align MagSafe and Qi standards. Since this partnership was announced in 2023, I’ve been eagerly waiting for Android phones with built-in magnets. Finally, with the Pixel 10, I can use all my favorite accessories without worrying about finding a case that works.
So, yes, the Pixel 10 has earned its hype in my book. While I wasn’t initially sold by the rumors surrounding it, the inclusion of Pixelsnap made me a true believer. Forget about the other fancy features like Magic Cue or Pro Res Zoom – Pixelsnap is the feature that’s won me over.
