Oppo may have unveiled the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro already, but the Find X9 story is clearly not finished. The company is preparing a true imaging flagship, the Find X9 Ultra, alongside a compact yet high end Find X9s that targets people who miss small powerful phones. Both models are shaping up to arrive just in time to clash with heavy hitters like the expected Galaxy S26 Ultra and vivos X300 Ultra, making the next flagship season especially crowded.

Find X9 Ultra: 200 MP sensor and dual periscopes

According to early information from China, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra will lean hard into photography.

At its heart sits a 200 MP main camera based on Sonys new IMX09E, also referred to as LYT-910, with a large 1/1.12 inch format. That combination of resolution and sensor size should allow Oppo to merge extreme detail with strong low light performance, using heavy pixel binning and advanced computational photography to deliver sharp images even when the sun goes down.

The main camera will be supported by an ultrawide and not one but two periscope telephoto lenses. One of them is said to offer 3x optical zoom using a Sony IMX09A sensor, a focal length that tends to be perfect for portraits and everyday zoom shots without obvious digital artifacts. The second periscope is rumored to push much further, giving the Ultra a long range option for distant subjects and a smoother overall zoom ladder that can rival or even beat what we saw on the Find X8 Ultra.

Oppo has not yet confirmed whether it is reusing the 50 MP periscope module with 6x optical zoom from the previous generation or introducing an entirely new sensor for that longer reach. Either way, expectations are high. On paper, the Find X9 Ultra is shaping up to stand shoulder to shoulder with the most ambitious camera phones of 2025, including Samsungs next Ultra model and vivos X300 Ultra, which is also tipped to use the same 200 MP Sony sensor as a foundation.

A serious follow up to the Find X8 Ultra

The Find X8 Ultra already proved that Oppo can build a serious camera flagship, but it still left enthusiasts asking for more reach, cleaner detail from zoom shots and tighter consistency across all focal lengths. With its 200 MP main sensor, refreshed telephoto hardware and updated processing pipeline, the Find X9 Ultra looks like Oppos answer to those complaints. For many fans, this could be the device that finally pushes Oppo into the same global camera phone conversation as Apple and Samsung, provided the company does not limit it to a few regions.

There is also an interesting strategic angle. By sharing the same new Sony IMX09E sensor as vivos X300 Ultra and going head to head with Samsungs S26 Ultra, Oppo is not just chasing spec sheets. It is positioning the Find X9 Ultra as a legitimate alternative for people who care more about real world photos and flexible zoom than brand logos, especially in markets where these brands will inevitably collide.

Find X9s: small screen, huge battery

On the other end of the lineup sits the Oppo Find X9s, a so called small screen flagship that follows in the footsteps of the Find X8s. It is expected to feature a 6.3 inch display with an ultrasonic fingerprint reader embedded under the panel, providing secure and quick unlock without sacrificing screen real estate or introducing side mounted compromises. For users who find 6.7 inch giants unwieldy, this size alone will be a major selling point.

Under the hood, the Find X9s is said to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 plus chipset, positioning it as a compact phone with true flagship power. The most surprising detail, however, is the rumored 7,000 mAh battery. If Oppo really manages to fit that capacity into a relatively slim, small body while maintaining modern fast charging, the X9s could become the go to choice for people who want all day and all night endurance without carrying a huge slab in their pocket or worrying about battery anxiety.

Launch timeline and availability

The current roadmap puts the Find X9s launch in March, followed by the Find X9 Ultra in April, roughly one year after the debut of the Find X8 Ultra. That timing would drop both handsets right into the same window as many rival flagships, setting up some spicy comparisons for camera quality, performance, battery life and thermal management once reviewers get their hands on them.

The big unanswered question is availability. Previous Ultra branded Oppo phones have often been limited to China or only selectively released in a few regions, which left international fans frustrated. Given the buzz around the new Sony IMX09E sensor and the growing demand for smaller high end phones, there is strong hope that Oppo will bring at least one of these devices to more markets this time instead of leaving the most interesting models as China only showcases.

Should you wait for them

If you are currently deciding between upgrading to a 2024 flagship or holding out for something new, the Find X9 Ultra and Find X9s are worth keeping on your radar. The Ultra promises one of the most ambitious camera stacks of the year, while the X9s offers a rare combination of compact size and massive battery. Until Oppo reveals full specs, pricing and launch regions, it is too early to crown a winner, but on paper both phones look ready to shake up the Android flagship rankings and give long time Galaxy and iPhone users a reason to at least look over the fence.
