Samsung has started rolling out its One UI 8 beta program, based on Android 16, for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Users in select regions like the UK and South Korea can now sign up through the Samsung Members app for an early preview of the next major update. After enrollment, users can download the update, which is roughly 3.2 GB in size and includes the August 1 security patch. The beta release number may vary by region, but it’s now available for Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra owners in the mentioned countries. South Korea users with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 can also access the update.
Users in the US and India should expect to gain access soon.
To join the beta, open the Samsung Members app, log in, and look for the One UI 8 beta banner. After registering, the update will appear in the Software update section of your device. Samsung also plans to expand the beta in September to other devices like the Galaxy S23 series and Galaxy Z Fold 5. Stable releases are expected to begin rolling out next month.
One UI 8 first debuted with the Galaxy S25 series earlier this year and introduced visual and functional changes. These include a fresh design with updated icons, smoother animations, and better menu spacing. The update also boosts performance, with faster app launches and more efficient background processes. There’s also expanded AI features, such as smarter text extraction from images, improved voice commands, and enhanced photo editing suggestions within the Gallery app.
Multitasking has been refined for large-screen devices, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6. On the security front, One UI 8 improves app permission controls and adds privacy indicators to notify users when the camera or microphone is being used. Additionally, battery optimization has been improved, with adaptive charging features to help extend battery lifespan.
While the beta version introduces some exciting new features, it may also come with bugs or performance issues. Users relying on their devices for daily tasks may want to wait for the stable version. But for those eager to test new features and not bothered by the occasional glitch, the One UI 8 beta provides a glimpse into Samsung’s software future for 2025. Proceed with caution!
