Nothing has officially confirmed the launch date for its next-generation true wireless earbuds, the Nothing Ear (3). The big reveal is set for September 18 at 13:00 UK time (14:00 Central Europe, 5:00 AM Los Angeles, 8:00 AM New York, 17:30 India).
While the company hasn’t specified if there will be a dedicated launch event or a flashy livestream, fans already have the date circled in their calendars.
The new earbuds continue Nothing’s now familiar naming scheme, returning to numbered iterations after the brief detour with the simply named Nothing Ear. This clears up confusion for buyers, even if the sequence technically makes the Ear (3) the fourth release in the series. It follows the original Ear (1), Ear (2), and the experimental “no-number” Ear.
So far, specifications remain under wraps, but Nothing has teased imagery showing off its recognizable transparent design. This aesthetic has become the company’s signature and a major selling point, giving its devices an instantly recognizable identity in a crowded market. For many fans, the confirmation that the design language lives on is reason enough to stay excited.
However, the pressure is on. Nothing and its founder Carl Pei have faced mounting criticism after the last launch didn’t land as smoothly as expected. On social media, particularly on X, users have expressed skepticism about whether the company can deliver meaningful improvements with the Ear (3). This launch, then, carries more weight than just another hardware refresh – it’s also a test of Nothing’s ability to regain consumer trust and prove its vision has staying power.
With competitors like Apple, Samsung, and Sony dominating the TWS segment, Nothing needs to offer more than just a sleek look. Sound quality, reliability, battery endurance, and pricing will all be critical factors that determine if the Ear (3) becomes a breakthrough success or fades into the background noise. On September 18, we’ll find out if Nothing can truly make something remarkable.
