Motorola has quietly reignited one of its older names, the Moto G100, with a surprisingly powerful new version tailored for the Chinese market. While the name recalls the 2021 model, this 2025 edition is a complete refresh, built to last longer and deliver more endurance than most midrange phones today. Its biggest highlight? A massive 7,000 mAh battery – the kind of capacity usually reserved for rugged or ultra-endurance devices.
Combined with 30W fast charging, it promises more than two full days of moderate use before needing a top-up.
Under the hood, Motorola has opted for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 – not the latest, but still efficient and capable for multitasking and gaming. Buyers can choose configurations with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, offering enough room for heavy apps and photo libraries. On the front, a 6.72-inch FHD+ IPS LCD panel supports a silky 120Hz refresh rate. It’s not OLED, but the panel should appeal to users sensitive to PWM flicker, a problem common with AMOLED screens.
The camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor paired with an 8MP ultrawide and a 32MP front camera for selfies. The phone runs Android 15 out of the box and carries an IP64 rating, protecting it against dust and splashes. Design-wise, it’s sleek and modern, with a striking blue color option reminiscent of the old iPhone 5c – a nostalgic nod appreciated by fans. Motorola priced the new Moto G100 at CNY 1,399 (about $196) for the 8GB/128GB model, making it a budget-friendly powerhouse. Pre-orders are live in China, with shipping starting October 23. The global variant may appear later as the Moto G36, if leaks are accurate.
While some users debate the reused name and the older Snapdragon choice, others praise the combination of battery size, clean software, and flicker-free LCD – rare features in this price bracket. For those who still value headphone jacks and long battery life over flashy specs, this new Moto might just be the understated champion of 2025’s budget segment.
