World’s Most Powerful RTX 4090 Gaming Handheld Runs AAA Games in 4K

A modder has pushed the limits of portable gaming by creating a colossal handheld device powered by NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU and Intel’s Core i9-14900HX.

Built by Bilibili creator Qingchen DIY, the custom rig fuses a laptop motherboard with a massive 12.5-inch display, 64GB DDR5-5600 RAM, and a 2TB SSD, all while retaining the look and feel of a gaming handheld-complete with joysticks, triggers, and cutouts reminiscent of mainstream portables.

The results are nothing short of jaw-dropping

. In demos, the device ran God of War, Horizon Forbidden West, and Cyberpunk 2077 at native 4K settings with smooth frame rates-something most handhelds can’t dream of achieving even at 1080p. GPU temps reportedly hovered around 72°C under load, thanks to the laptop’s own cooling system, which is impressive for such a beastly setup.

Of course, with such extreme hardware, portability is more theoretical than practical. Battery life is questionable, and at this size, it’s closer to a luggable console than a pocketable device. Still, it’s a remarkable DIY project that shows what happens when you throw all size, weight, and power constraints out the window for the sake of pure gaming performance.
