MediaTek looks ready to steal Qualcomm’s thunder this September, with the Dimensity 9500 reportedly set to debut just a day before the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Elite. Qualcomm has already locked in its Snapdragon Summit for September 23–25, where it plans to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
But according to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, MediaTek will reveal its own flagship Dimensity 9500 on September 22.
The first devices tipped to feature this powerhouse chip are the vivo X300 Pro and Oppo Find X9 Pro. Built using TSMC’s advanced N3P 3nm process, the Dimensity 9500 will pack an eight-core CPU based on ARM’s latest Cortex-X9 design. Early Geekbench listings suggest a Travis X930 prime core running at 3.23 GHz, three Alto cores at 3.03 GHz, and four Gelas cores at 2.23 GHz.
On the graphics side, the Mali-G1-Ultra MC12 GPU promises impressive gaming performance, reportedly hitting 1GHz and pushing ray-traced games past 100fps. The chip will also feature a beefed-up NPU delivering a staggering 100 TOPS, making it a strong contender for AI-driven tasks.
With both giants aiming for late-September showcases, smartphone enthusiasts are in for a high-stakes showdown in the mobile chip arena.
