Lost Soul Aside, the long-awaited action RPG from Ultizero Games, has finally arrived on PC and PlayStation 5, but the debut isn’t going as smoothly as fans hoped. Originally a one-man project by Yang Bing before expanding into a full studio production, the game now comes with a free demo and a flashy launch trailer. Players can try out slices of combat, experiment with different weapons and abilities, and even face down tough boss fights before deciding whether to pay the $59.99 entry price (or $69.99 for the deluxe edition).
Unfortunately, the early buzz isn’t glowing.
On Steam, only about half of the first 250 reviews are positive, with players complaining about rough performance, unpolished mechanics, and stability issues. Some are calling the demo a better marketing move than the final product itself. This could explain why publisher Sony chose not to send review codes to the press ahead of launch – a red flag that usually signals caution.
The developers have already responded to one frequent complaint: cutscene stuttering. Many of the prologue’s cinematics are pre-rendered 4K/30fps videos, which have been causing playback hiccups. Ultizero issued an apology, promising optimization patches and smoother updates in the near future. Their official statement emphasized that performance fixes are a top priority as players dive into the story of Kaser’s desperate mission to save his sister Louisa – and humanity itself – from annihilation.
For now, Lost Soul Aside looks like a project with heart and ambition but also clear growing pains. If you’re curious, the demo might be worth a spin, but those looking for a polished experience may want to wait until the patches roll out.
