CI Games has officially lifted the curtain on Lords of the Fallen 2 with a dramatic reveal trailer at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live.
Scheduled for a 2026 release, the sequel is built in Unreal Engine 5 and promises to expand on everything players both loved and criticized in the 2023 reboot.
This new entry isn’t just another patchwork update – it’s a standalone sequel shaped directly by community feedback. Players can expect two parallel worlds to explore, including a darker and more expansive Umbral realm. Online co-op returns with shared progression, while optional PvP and customizable game modifiers add fresh replayability.
The road to this sequel hasn’t been smooth. CI Games faced layoffs in early 2024, and several key creative leads left the company this year. Still, the studio insists the project is moving forward with a clear focus on being, in their words, a “player-first studio.” According to CEO Marek Tyminski, the massive V2.0 update for the reboot was just the start: “Listen, respond, deliver – that’s the foundation of Lords of the Fallen 2.”
The original game’s revival after a shaky start proved there’s a hungry audience for its grim, Souls-inspired combat and art direction. Now, with over two million copies sold and millions of players braving its worlds, CI Games is betting that the sequel will push the series further into the spotlight.
Whether this becomes another memorable soulslike or gets lost in the crowded field will depend on whether the studio can deliver a polished, finished product at launch. But for now, fans of brutal, atmospheric RPGs have a new dark world to look forward to.
