The king of animated sitcoms is back in a big way. With a stellar revival in its 14th season, King of the Hill has reclaimed its throne.
The show not only brought in 4.4 million viewers during its first week, but also received glowing critical reviews, including from us. For fans, this isn’t just a one-off revival. According to a Vulture report, a second season is already in the works, ready to debut next year.
When Hulu announced the revival in 2023, it ordered a total of 20 half-hour episodes. However, only 10 of those episodes were released as part of Season 14. It turns out, the remaining 10 episodes were set aside for a second season, which will air sometime in 2024. This means fans can expect a Season 15 next year. The split of episodes allowed writers and producers to craft more elaborate storylines, giving them more time to develop certain plotlines and characters over two seasons rather than one.
Although we’re all excited for Season 15, the possibility of even more seasons seems like a very real prospect. The hype around the show is high, and according to reports, King of the Hill is expected to rank second on Nielsen’s streaming charts, just behind Netflix’s Wednesday. So, discussions around a future renewal might be happening soon.
The revival, which comes 15 years after the show’s original run, was always a risky proposition. Some of the original voice actors have passed away, both before and after Season 14 was recorded. The cultural landscape in the U.S. has changed dramatically, and Hank Hill himself grapples with the differences when he returns from Saudi Arabia. The show’s time skip, which saw the characters age (with Bobby experiencing the most noticeable changes), presented its own challenges. But Mike Judge and Greg Daniels have managed to maintain the show’s charm, and with Season 14 being such a hit, fans are eager to see what happens in Season 15.
Despite some concerns about how the show’s seasons are structured – splitting what could have been one full season into two – it’s clear that King of the Hill still has a lot to offer. If Season 15 lives up to the standard set by Season 14, there’s a good chance that even more seasons could be in the pipeline. For now, we’ll have to wait and see if the show can continue its strong run and deliver even more hilarious moments.

Man i tell you what, dang ol season 3
Nice! I hope they keep making more past the second season too. It kind of makes sense that they split them like this now because when I watched the last episode it didn’t really feel like a season finale. Also what year is it supposed to be in their world? Anyway great show!
Honestly it was my least favorite season of the show. Not anything funny and the changes to Dale and Kahn’s voice actors are way too apparent and jarring to me. Bummer cause I’ve loved every season of the show beforehand and was excited for this
