Jurassic Park: Survival Behind-the-Scenes Shows Dino Detail and Pre-Alpha Gameplay

Saber Interactive and NBC Universal have finally peeled back the curtain a little more on Jurassic Park: Survival, the first-person horror adventure that throws players back 65 million years into the nightmare of Isla Nublar.

In a new behind-the-scenes feature, both Saber and Universal share how they meticulously rebuilt the original 1993 film’s park for the game, from iconic buildings to the smallest prop a fan might recognize.

The game’s protagonist, Dr. Maya Joshi, takes center stage in this early look. Saber’s animators have been working closely with Universal to ensure the dinosaurs move and behave with film-level authenticity, down to the subtle twitches and predator stalking motions. Short glimpses of pre-alpha gameplay show Dr. Joshi navigating the jungle with a handheld map and compass, trying to stay quiet while a noise meter warns of nearby danger.

While the footage looks promising, it’s still firmly in pre-alpha, and that might be a bittersweet note for eager fans. This is the first real look since the December 2023 announcement trailer, and some may worry development is taking its time. Still, for horror fans who’ve long seen Jurassic Park as fertile ground for tense, survival-focused gameplay-think Alien: Isolation but with raptors-there’s reason to hope the wait will be worth it.

With no release date yet, the big question remains: when will we actually get to step back onto Isla Nublar? Whenever that day comes, the game has the potential to finally capture the sheer terror of being hunted by prehistoric predators in a world where the park’s fences have already failed.
