iQOO is preparing to follow OnePlus’ footsteps in the compact flagship segment, with rumors pointing toward an upcoming iQOO 15 Mini.
The new model is expected to launch next year alongside the iQOO 15 Ultra, while the standard iQOO 15 is already being teased for release in the coming weeks.
The so-called “Mini” will reportedly feature a flat 6.3-inch display with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the screen. While some argue that a 6.3-inch panel hardly qualifies as ‘mini’, it’s still notably smaller compared to the 6.85-inch iQOO 15. The phone is also rumored to house a huge 7,000 mAh battery – an unusual but welcome move in the smaller flagship space.
This strategy echoes OnePlus’ dual-release approach, where the OnePlus 15T/15s aim to provide high-end features in a slightly more compact form than the main flagship. The OnePlus models are tipped to come with triple rear cameras and a new chipset alongside the larger battery. If iQOO manages to deliver similar value – especially by reusing the capable camera system from the iQOO 13 – the 15 Mini could carve out a strong niche for itself among users who want flagship performance without pocket-busting dimensions.
However, the debate around what counts as ‘mini’ rages on. For some, anything over 6 inches is too big to be labeled compact, while others note that compared to today’s nearly 7-inch slabs, a 6.3-inch phone does feel relatively small. What may prove more critical is whether iQOO keeps the weight under control, as many consumers argue that bulk, not just size, determines true comfort in hand.
