iPhone 17 Pro Redesign All But Confirmed by dbrand’s Tank Case

The long-rumored redesign of the iPhone 17 Pro now appears to be more than just speculation. Case maker dbrand has all but confirmed the bold new look by unveiling its upcoming Tank Case for the model, ahead of Apple’s expected September 9 reveal event.

The case showcases a prominent ‘camera bar’ across the top of the phone – a design cue reminiscent of Google’s Pixel series and heavily hinted at in earlier leaks.

dbrand’s Tank Case marks a departure from its signature sleek, decal-heavy designs. This limited edition accessory features a rugged, heavy-duty aesthetic with a decorative MagSafe zone sporting a mysterious, Illuminati-inspired motif. The renders also confirm familiar hardware elements such as the Action button and Camera Control, along with the raised top section housing the camera array, flash, LiDAR scanner, and light sensor.

Industry insiders know that case makers often receive design specifications from Apple or supply chain sources ahead of launch to prepare accessories. This makes the Tank Case reveal a strong indication that the iPhone 17 Pro will indeed embrace this distinctive camera bar look. The new case will be offered exclusively for the iPhone 17 Air, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max, leaving the standard iPhone 17 – expected to retain the classic design – without a Tank Case option.

The iPhone 17 lineup is expected to debut on September 9, with pre-orders likely opening on September 12 and full availability from September 19. While the redesign adds a bold, industrial edge, some Apple fans may find the enlarged camera bar excessive. How the final product feels in hand and looks without a case remains to be seen, but Apple’s trademark premium finish could still win over skeptics.
