The iPhone 17 Air has caught my eye in ways I didn’t expect. Initially, I was skeptical about this new addition to Apple’s lineup. After all, we’ve seen similar attempts fail, like the iPhone mini and the iPhone Plus. It seemed like the standard and Pro models were all we ever really needed.
But this time, things might be different.
The iPhone 17 Air’s battery life was a major concern for me. Rumors suggested it would rely on an external battery pack to get through the day. That was a red flag, as I always prefer devices that can handle normal usage without needing a backup. Plus, a single rear camera? Sure, I mostly use my main camera, but a second one is always nice to have.
Then came the rumored Sky Blue model, and suddenly, all my logic flew out the window. It’s so sleek and beautiful in that finish that I find myself questioning whether I care about the drawbacks. Compared to the Desert Titanium iPhone 16 Pro, the iPhone 17 Air is minimalist and modern, with its lone 48MP camera and horizontal camera bar. And it’s thinner-something I can really appreciate, especially since I’ve regretted buying the bulky iPhone 14 Pro.
But, of course, there’s a catch. The iPhone 17 Air’s battery is smaller, and with a rumored 2,900mAh capacity, it’s likely that most users will need to charge it at least twice a day, or rely on the external accessory. As someone who spends most of their time outside, that’s an inconvenience. Still, I’m willing to overlook it. The iPhone 17 Air might not make sense on paper, but sometimes, the allure of a new design is too strong to ignore. I may regret this choice, especially as the battery diminishes over time, but the initial excitement is worth it for now.
