Invincible VS, the upcoming 3v3 tag fighting game inspired by Robert Kirkman’s hit superhero universe, just dropped its most surprising reveal yet – Cecil Stedman joins the playable roster.

Developed by Quarter Up, the game continues to build hype with each new reveal, and the latest trailer gives fans a closer look at the secretive head of the Global Defense Agency, complete with his signature teleportation tricks and sardonic tone perfectly voiced by Walton Goggins.

With Cecil’s arrival, the roster now counts eight confirmed fighters: Mark Grayson (Invincible), Atom Eve, Bulletproof, Thula, Rex Splode, Battle Beast, Omni-Man, and now Cecil. Each is fully voiced by their respective actors from the acclaimed Prime Video animated series, adding authenticity that blurs the line between game and show.

The announcement also came with new details on the Story Mode, which promises to be far more than a generic campaign. Co-written by Helen Leigh, co-executive producer of the Invincible TV show, and narrative director Mike Rogers, in collaboration with Kirkman himself, the mode plays out like a lost extended episode from the series. It will feature over 25 minutes of new bespoke animation, bringing the characters together in a cinematic experience that expands the Invincible universe.

Perhaps the most intriguing tease is the mention of a brand-new character – someone who has never appeared in the comics or the show. Quarter Up remains tight-lipped on who this might be, but fans are already speculating wildly, from a mysterious government weapon to a parallel-universe version of an existing hero. What’s certain is that Cecil will have a central role in uncovering this mystery, pulling strings behind the scenes just as he always does.

Robert Kirkman commented that Invincible has always balanced brutal action with complex storytelling, and that was their guiding principle here. “We wanted fans to feel like they’re stepping back into the show – but through an interactive lens where their choices and battles carry weight,” he said. Invincible VS is shaping up to be more than a fighting game; it’s a love letter to the show’s fans and a new way to experience its bloody, heartfelt world. The game is slated for release in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with a Closed Alpha planned for later this year.
