Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has just carved out a new milestone: it will be the first Microsoft title heading to Nintendo’s long-rumored Switch 2. The news slipped in at the very end of a Gamescom Opening Night Live trailer for the upcoming DLC, The Order of Giants, teasing a 2026 release window.
As expected, the original Switch won’t be part of the plan, leaving owners of the first console behind.
Before then, players can dive into The Order of Giants expansion on September 4 for existing platforms. This DLC pushes deeper into Rome, tasking Indy with tracking down the helmet of the Nameless Crusader while tangling with massive foes tied to the Nephilim Order – a secret society of giants descended from fallen angels. According to production director John Jennings, the DLC gave the team the chance to enrich the mythos and show parts of the story world left untouched by the main campaign.
Rome opens up in new ways: players will explore the city’s ancient sewers, stumble into Emperor Nero’s hidden gladiator arenas, and cross paths with yet another clandestine group, the Cult of Mithras. MachineGames’ creative team also hinted that late-stage tweaks during development helped polish what’s already been considered one of Xbox’s most ambitious adventures.
For Switch 2 fans, the big question isn’t the lore but the tech. Will the handheld-console hybrid handle the game’s sprawling environments without buckling under the weight? Players are already speculating whether the experience will shine like The Witcher 3’s surprisingly solid Switch port or fall flat like Mortal Kombat 1’s rocky adaptation. Storage is another hot debate – whether the full game and DLC make it onto a single cartridge or whether Microsoft leans on download codes as it has for some PlayStation releases. Either way, Indiana Jones is about to test Switch 2’s real power.
