Huawei has officially unveiled the Watch Ultimate 2, a premium smartwatch that builds upon the foundation of last year’s original Watch Ultimate while pushing boundaries even further.
This second-generation model is not only stylish but also engineered for extreme performance, particularly for divers and outdoor adventurers.
At first glance, the Watch Ultimate 2 maintains the rugged elegance of its predecessor, but closer inspection reveals refinements in design and durability. The case is crafted from zirconium-based liquid metal, offering superior resilience against scratches and corrosion. Huawei pairs this with dual-tone nanocrystal ceramic bezels and sapphire glass protection, creating a watch that is both luxurious and ultra-durable. The 1.5-inch LTPO2 AMOLED display delivers vivid visuals with a staggering 3,500 nits peak brightness, ensuring readability even in direct sunlight. Bezels are now 18% slimmer, giving the watch a sleeker, more immersive look.
The most headline-worthy upgrade is its 20ATM water resistance rating. Certified under EN13319 and ISO 22810:2010 standards, the Ultimate 2 can survive dives of up to 150 meters – 50 meters deeper than the first-generation model. That alone makes it a standout among dive-ready wearables, but Huawei takes it further with groundbreaking underwater sonar-based communication. For the first time on a smartwatch, divers can exchange preset messages and even emoticons within a 30-meter radius. The device also supports an underwater SOS alert that can notify others up to 60 meters away, a potentially lifesaving feature.
Connectivity is enhanced with Huawei’s new gap antenna system, designed to deliver consistent signals even in challenging environments. Power is another strength: the battery lasts up to 4.5 days under regular use and stretches to 11 days in power-saver mode, making it highly reliable for extended trips. The watch also introduces the TruSense health system and an X-Tap sensor that provides quick and precise readings across 11 health indicators, including ECG monitoring. These additions position the Ultimate 2 as a serious health and fitness companion, not just a luxury gadget.
Running on HarmonyOS 5.0, the smartwatch supports eSIM connectivity, dual-band GPS, and BeiDou satellite messaging (China-only), while also offering on-device calling and music playback. This makes it versatile enough for both urban lifestyles and wilderness expeditions.
Huawei is launching the Watch Ultimate 2 in two striking colorways: Compass Black and Ocean Blue. Pricing starts at €899/£799, with the higher-end version going for €999/£899. Early adopters benefit from a €100/£100 discount coupon valid until October 7, making it a tempting offer for tech enthusiasts and divers alike.
With its mix of cutting-edge durability, lifesaving dive features, and health tracking capabilities, the Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 is positioning itself as one of the most advanced smartwatches ever built – not just for tech fans, but for anyone who dares to push boundaries.
