Huawei is preparing to refresh its foldable lineup with the upcoming Huawei nova Flip S, a direct successor to the affordable nova Flip introduced back in August 2024.

While the original model managed to bring foldable tech to a more budget-friendly segment, the S version is shaping up to refine the formula with more storage options and an expanded palette of colors.

According to China Telecom’s device database, the nova Flip S will carry the model number PSD-AL80 and arrive in three configurations: 12GB RAM paired with 256GB, 512GB, or even 1TB of storage. That last option is particularly notable, as very few foldable devices in this price bracket have offered so much built-in memory. Although official pricing has not yet been revealed, the first nova Flip recently dropped to around CNY 2,900 (roughly $410 / €345 / ₹36,000), suggesting Huawei may keep the S model competitive in order to hold its ground in the mid-range foldable market.

The design will also stand out with six distinct colorways: Sakura Pink, Zero White, Sky Blue, Star Black, Feather Sand Black, and New Green. Four of these were inherited from the previous generation, while Sky Blue and Feather Sand Black add a fresh identity to the Flip S. Sadly, the early photos shared by the listing only display the internal screen, leaving the outer design and finish a mystery for now.

When exactly Huawei will officially present the nova Flip S is still uncertain. Some speculation points to October 2025 as a possible launch window, but this remains unconfirmed. Still, given Huawei’s strategy in the foldable segment, it seems likely the company will want to seize attention ahead of the holiday shopping season.

One question enthusiasts are already debating is the processor choice. Since this line focuses on affordability, many expect the nova Flip S to feature Huawei’s in-house Kirin 8020 chipset, balancing power efficiency and cost. If true, it would align with the brand’s push for more independence from outside suppliers while keeping the device accessible to younger buyers and those exploring foldables for the first time.

Altogether, the nova Flip S is shaping up to be a practical upgrade rather than a radical reinvention – more memory, more colors, and possibly a refined chipset – all in a familiar, stylish foldable design. For Huawei fans or anyone curious about folding phones without premium flagship pricing, this device could be one to watch in the months ahead.
