Huawei has expanded its MatePad lineup with the introduction of two sleek new tablets – the MatePad Air 12 and the MatePad 11.5 S – both running HarmonyOS 5.
These devices promise premium displays, powerful audio, and versatile accessories.
MatePad Air 12: Large Display with PaperMatte Option
The MatePad Air 12 features a 12-inch IPS LCD with a sharp 2800 × 1840 resolution and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. An optional nano-etched PaperMatte finish reduces glare and eliminates 99% of light interference, paired with an impressive 1,000-nit peak brightness and full DCI-P3 color coverage. It supports the M-Pencil Pro stylus and packs six speakers for immersive audio. At just 5.9mm thin and 555g, it’s portable without compromising on screen real estate.
Under the hood, Huawei hasn’t revealed the chipset but confirms 12GB of RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage options. The tablet houses a 50MP rear camera, an 8MP front shooter, a 10,100 mAh battery with 66W fast charging, and Wi-Fi 7 support (no cellular connectivity). Color options include Cherry Blossom Pink, Grass Green, Feather Sand White, and Smoke Gray, priced from CNY 2,999 ($417) for the 12/256GB model. Sales in China start August 21.
MatePad 11.5 S: Affordable Yet Feature-Rich
The MatePad 11.5 S offers an 11.5-inch IPS LCD with the same 2800 × 1840 resolution and 144Hz refresh rate, M-Pencil Pro support, and quad speakers. It’s available in 8GB or 12GB RAM configurations, with storage up to 512GB. Cameras include a 13MP rear lens and an 8MP front camera. The 8,800 mAh battery supports 40W charging. Available in Field Green, Feather Sand Purple, Frost Silver, and Deep Space Gray, the base 8/128GB variant starts at CNY 2,499 ($348), with sales also beginning August 21 in China.
With their high-refresh displays, strong audio, and HarmonyOS 5 integration, both tablets cater to users who want a premium experience at competitive prices.
