Honor has officially unveiled the Honor X9d, a rugged yet feature-rich smartphone that aims to stand out with an extraordinary battery and unmatched durability. The headline feature is its massive 8,300mAh silicon-carbon (Si-C) battery, one of the largest in a mainstream smartphone to date, ensuring users can go for days without worrying about a recharge.
Complementing this is its rare IP69K certification, a rating typically seen in industrial equipment, meaning the device can withstand extreme conditions such as high-pressure, high-temperature water jets – something very few phones can claim.
While the X9d is essentially a global rebrand of the China-exclusive Honor X70, the primary difference is the charging speed: the new model supports 66W wired charging, slightly slower than its Chinese counterpart, but still more than fast enough to juice up such a huge battery quickly. The handset’s design includes a shock-absorbing frame to survive accidental drops and daily wear, strengthening its identity as a durable companion for both urban life and outdoor adventures.
The front is dominated by a large 6.79-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Impressively, the screen boasts a peak brightness of up to 6,000 nits, making it one of the brightest displays on the market and ideal for visibility under direct sunlight. Under the hood, the X9d is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB, offering a blend of efficiency and multitasking capability. On the software side, Honor ships the device with MagicOS 9.0 built on Android 15, ensuring the latest features and security updates.
Photography is handled by a dual-camera system: a high-resolution 108MP main camera and a 5MP ultrawide lens, arranged in a distinctive circular module on the back. While not overloaded with sensors, this setup is geared toward delivering sharp detail and solid versatility for everyday shots. Color options include Reddish Brown, Midnight Black, Sunrise Gold, and Forest Green, appealing to both conservative and adventurous tastes.
Honor Malaysia has launched pre-orders for the X9d, with pricing set at MYR 1,499 (roughly $356) for the 12GB/256GB version and MYR 1,699 (around $403) for the 512GB model. To sweeten the deal, buyers who place an order before October 9 will also receive a complimentary Honor Pad X7 tablet, making the package even more attractive to value-conscious customers. Overall, the Honor X9d positions itself as a tough, long-lasting phone that blends durability, performance, and affordability in one impressive package.
