Honor has just lifted the curtain on more details about its highly anticipated Magic8 Pro, and the focus is squarely on its extraordinary 200 MP telephoto camera. The new system is built around a large 1/1.4-inch sensor paired with Honor’s proprietary AIMAGE Nox Engine, an advanced image processing platform aimed at extracting the most detail possible even in difficult lighting conditions. With a f/2.6 aperture and the industry’s first CIPA 5.5-stop optical stabilization, Honor claims this telephoto setup can take crisp, blur-free shots even at slower shutter speeds, countering hand movement that would usually ruin a zoomed photo.
In simple terms, it can shoot 5.5 times slower than without stabilization – a remarkable feat for mobile photography.
According to Honor’s teaser campaign, the Magic8 series – including both the Magic8 and Magic8 Pro – will officially debut on October 15 alongside MagicOS 10, the company’s updated Android-based interface built on Android 16. Under the hood, the Magic8 Pro will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, supported by up to 16GB of RAM and a massive 1TB of storage. Powering all this is a generous 7,000 mAh battery with 120W wired and wireless charging capabilities, promising exceptional endurance for photographers and gamers alike.
The device isn’t just about that standout telephoto camera either – it will reportedly include a 50 MP main sensor and a 50 MP ultrawide unit for a versatile imaging setup. Early testers in China have already had a hands-on experience with pre-release units, praising the dramatic leap in image processing quality compared to the Magic7. One user noted that the periscope zoom camera was ‘leagues ahead,’ especially when shooting video, which was previously a weak point for Honor’s lineup. Another detail catching attention is the dual symmetrical speaker system, described as ‘superb’ and noticeably superior to what Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi currently offer, even in their top-tier models.
With all these improvements, the Magic8 Pro isn’t just shaping up to be a typical upgrade – it’s Honor’s statement that it’s ready to go head-to-head with the world’s biggest flagships. Between the powerhouse hardware, camera breakthroughs, and refined design, this phone might mark the company’s strongest push into the premium space yet.
