Honor has never been shy about showing off the durability of its foldable phones, but the Magic V5 just set a new benchmark.
Honor Magic V5 Lifts 104kg, Breaks Guinness World Record
The device has now claimed a Guinness World Record for lifting the heaviest weight by a suspended foldable smartphone, an achievement designed to prove the toughness of its engineering.

In the official test, the Magic V5’s reinforced ‘Super Steel Hinge’ was strapped to an 84kg refrigerator with an extra 20kg of weighted plates, bringing the total to 104kg. The phone held the load without snapping – a feat that highlights the hinge’s tensile strength of 2300MPa. Honor also says the mechanism is designed to endure up to 500,000 folds across its lifetime.

This isn’t the first durability stunt from Honor. The company has already put the Magic V5 through rain, extreme heat, cold, and even steel ball impact tests. But this refrigerator-lifting demonstration takes marketing spectacle to a new level, bridging toughness tests with viral attention.

Beyond the stunts, the Magic V5 is still a high-end piece of hardware. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, has a 7.95-inch AMOLED Full HD+ inner display, a 6.43-inch AMOLED cover screen, and a large 5,820mAh battery in its global version. The device weighs 217 grams and measures just 8.8mm when folded. On the camera front, it includes a triple-lens setup featuring a 64MP periscope telephoto sensor.

Honor’s message is clear: the Magic V5 isn’t just a stylish foldable – it’s built like a tank. Whether that means users will ever need it to hold up a fridge is another question entirely.
