Foldable smartphones had a breakthrough year in 2024, and Honor emerged as the biggest winner in Europe. According to Counterpoint Research, Honor nearly quadrupled its foldable sales compared to 2023, fueled by the success of the Honor Magic V3.

The sleek device briefly held the crown as the slimmest foldable in the world, measuring just 4.35 mm when open and around 9 mm folded.

The Magic V3 isn’t just about looks – it’s built with advanced materials like Special Fiber for durability, Super Steel for a hinge tested to 500,000 folds, and a reinforced coating on the inner screen. The cover display is protected by Honor’s NanoCrystal Shield. Both the inner and outer OLED panels deliver sharp visuals with 402 PPI, LTPO tech offering adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rates, and peak brightness above 1,000 nits

. While the crease is still visible, it’s less distracting than on most rivals.

Honor also packed in a strong camera setup: a Sony IMX906 main sensor, a 40MP ultrawide, and a 50MP periscope telephoto with 3.5x zoom. Under the hood, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor powers the device, backed by a 5,150 mAh battery for reliable endurance.

The numbers speak for themselves. Foldable sales in Europe jumped 60% overall in 2024, with Honor’s market share climbing from 11% to 34%. Meanwhile, Samsung’s dominance slipped, dropping from 73% to 50%. These figures exclude the Galaxy Z Fold 7, launched in July 2025, which has been attracting record-breaking demand despite its smaller battery compared to competitors like the Honor Magic V5 and its 6,100 mAh cell.

The real battle is yet to come. With Samsung’s latest entry gaining traction and Honor proving it can challenge the Korean giant head-on, 2025 could be the most competitive year for foldables yet. Will Samsung reclaim lost ground, or will Honor’s momentum carry it even further?
