Honor is slowly turning up the hype machine for its next mid-premium lineup, and the first official glimpse of the Honor 500 series has now arrived. 
After live images of an alleged prototype leaked online, the company has posted its own teaser on Weibo, confirming that both the Honor 500 and Honor 500 Pro are real and getting ready to launch in China soon.
The teaser image doesn’t spell out a launch date, but it does give us our best look yet at the rear design language Honor is going for this generation. The silhouettes reveal a noticeably slim profile, suggesting that the brand wants these phones to feel light in the hand rather than bulky camera bricks. On the right side, there is a clearly highlighted extra button that doesn’t match the usual power or volume keys. All signs point to it being a dedicated camera shutter button – a feature photography fans have been asking to see more often on Android phones, especially on models that push camera performance.
The rear camera island is only faintly visible on the teaser, but the shape hints at an iPhone Air–style camera module, with individual lenses sitting in a minimalist, rounded layout instead of a heavy rectangular block. According to early leaks, the standard Honor 500 is expected to carry a dual rear camera setup, while the Honor 500 Pro could add an extra sensor for a more flexible triple rear camera configuration. That difference would create a clear separation between the two models for users who prioritize ultra-wide or telephoto shooting options.
Under the hood, Honor appears to be positioning the series as a performance-focused upgrade over the previous Honor 400 line. The base Honor 500 is rumored to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, a modern high-end SoC designed to deliver flagship-level speed while staying efficient enough for slim devices. The Honor 500 Pro, meanwhile, is tipped to step things up further with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, a more powerful platform aimed at users who game a lot, multitask heavily, or simply want the smoothest possible Android experience.
Both phones are expected to feature a 6.5-inch display, which has become the sweet spot for users who want plenty of screen real estate for video, social media, and gaming, while still keeping the phone reasonably compact. Honor’s recent devices have leaned towards high-refresh OLED panels, so it would not be surprising if the 500 series continues that trend with bright, color-accurate screens and smooth scrolling.
The Honor 400 Pro 5G showed that the company can deliver strong hardware at aggressive prices, and the Honor 500 family looks ready to build on that momentum with sharper design and more capable chipsets. If Honor manages to combine the rumored camera shutter key, improved imaging hardware, and powerful Snapdragon chips with competitive pricing, the Honor 500 and 500 Pro could become some of the most compelling upper mid-range Android phones in the Chinese market this year.
For now, we are still waiting for a confirmed launch date and full spec sheet, but the official teaser alone already makes it clear: Honor is treating the 500 series as a major step forward in design and everyday usability, not just a routine, incremental update.
