The Hollow Knight: Silksong saga may finally be reaching its climax, and once again Geoff Keighley is at the center of the storm. Ahead of Gamescom Opening Night Live, Keighley dropped a teaser that instantly sent fans into overdrive. For years now, the Silksong community has joked about putting on clown makeup every time a major showcase rolls around, fully aware of how absurd their endless anticipation has become. 
Whether it was Nintendo Directs, The Game Awards, or Summer Game Fest, fans showed up with memes and rubber noses, only to leave empty-handed.
This time, though, the signals are hard to ignore. Silksong has a playable demo on the Gamescom show floor, and earlier leaks tied its release to the October 16 launch of the ROG Ally handheld. Xbox’s Sarah Bond already confirmed the game would be part of that launch window. If everything lines up, Silksong should release within the next two months, and Keighley’s showcase is the perfect stage for the long-awaited release date reveal.
Still, veterans of this circus know the risk of premature hype. Just earlier this year, the fandom spiraled into chaos over nothing more than a chocolate cake recipe. Some are convinced that teasing Silksong again without delivering would be industry self-sabotage. Others are bracing for disappointment, clown noses at the ready.
Whether it’s a dramatic shadow drop, a firm date, or just another cruel tease, all eyes are on Opening Night Live. After years of silence and jokes about hallucinations, Silksong’s moment seems closer than ever. And if it really happens, this might be the most celebrated release date reveal in recent memory.
