Google is set to launch several new devices on August 20, including the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and the Pixel Watch 4. Among these announcements, the highly anticipated Pixel Buds 2a will also make their debut. The leak surrounding these earbuds comes courtesy of renowned tipster Evan Blass, better known as @evleaks.

His recent post shows a side-by-side comparison between the upcoming Pixel Buds 2a and the already available Pixel Buds Pro 2, giving us an early glimpse into what to expect.

As expected, the Pixel Buds 2a are positioned as the more budget-friendly option compared to the higher-end Pixel Buds Pro 2. These new earbuds are the successors to the Pixel Buds A-Series, which launched back in 2021, making the 2a a long-awaited upgrade. While they won’t offer all the features of the Pro model, they’ll still have some noteworthy specs.

The Pixel Buds 2a are said to feature a 7-hour battery life, with an additional 20 hours when stored in their charging case. They’ll also support spatial audio, though without the head tracking found in the Pro model. The case will not support wireless charging, a feature that’s only available in the more premium Pixel Buds Pro 2. However, the 2a will still include Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), though it’s expected to be less powerful than the ANC in the Pixel Buds Pro 2 due to the absence of “Silent Seal 2.0” technology.

In terms of color options, the Pixel Buds 2a will come in two shades: a dark gray (possibly called Obsidian) and a white (likely named Porcelain). While these colors are a step up from the basic options of previous generations, they are still relatively simple in comparison to the more varied choices offered by other brands.
