Google is giving its annual Made by Google keynote a major shake-up in 2025. Instead of the usual low-key presentation led by executives, this year’s Pixel 10 launch is being turned into a full-blown pop culture spectacle hosted by none other than Jimmy Fallon.
The event takes place on August 20 in New York City and promises to blend product reveals with celebrity appearances, making it feel less like a press conference and more like a late-night variety show.
Traditionally, Google’s showcases were anchored by Rick Osterloh and other leaders, diving deep into technical details and AI breakthroughs. But with Fallon as host, the company is signaling a pivot: a keynote that’s meant to entertain as much as inform. A teaser posted on Fallon’s Instagram hinted at a lighthearted, accessible approach – one designed to make even the most complex AI features digestible for a mainstream audience.
And Fallon won’t be the only star on stage. The lineup reportedly includes NBA legend Stephen Curry, F1 driver Lando Norris, and even the Jonas Brothers, turning the Pixel 10 reveal into a hybrid of tech keynote and red-carpet gala. The strategy is clear: Google wants to present its hardware not just as tools, but as lifestyle statements, bridging the gap between Silicon Valley and Hollywood.
This kind of star-powered marketing isn’t unique to Google. Apple has been perfecting cinematic, highly polished events for years, while Samsung increasingly leans on celebrity cameos and partnerships. But Google’s embrace of Fallon – a comedian with mass-market appeal – suggests a deliberate play to reach audiences far outside the tech faithful.
Whether this approach pays off remains to be seen. Some Pixel fans worry the spectacle could overshadow what they actually care about: the phones, the software, and the AI smarts inside. Yet there’s no doubt the Pixel 10 launch will stand out, if only because it dares to turn a product unveiling into a cultural happening.
