Google Messages is stepping up its game once again. After adopting RCS (Rich Communication Services) and enabling features like sharing photos in full quality, the app now offers a much-requested option: unsending messages.

This new addition lets users delete a message not only from their own chat window but also from the recipient’s side, preventing those awkward slip-ups from living forever in a conversation.

The feature first appeared months ago in early code leaks, but Google has now rolled it out broadly to all users. To use it, simply long-press a message, tap the trash can icon, and you’ll be prompted to choose between “Delete for me” or “Delete for everyone.”

While unsend has been common on other chat platforms for years, its arrival on Google’s default Messages app is significant. For the millions who rely on it as their main texting tool, this update makes communication more forgiving – and a little less stressful.
