Google’s Tablet Ambitions End with Pixel’s Silence

Google’s ambitious venture into the tablet market with the Pixel Tablet in 2023 seems to have hit a brick wall. After launching the device, Google has gone silent, with no major updates or follow-ups on its tablet ambitions.

Rumors had suggested that there were plans for at least two more generations of the device, but those were soon canceled, leaving many to wonder about the future of Google’s tablet division.

In a surprising move, Google has officially admitted that it has given up on tablets for now, as reported by Bloomberg. According to the company, it has put tablets on the backburner until it can figure out a meaningful future for the category. Google doesn’t see a scenario where users will be carrying much more than their phones in the foreseeable future.

This reasoning seems strange, especially when you consider that Apple continues to sell millions of iPads each year. Many iPad owners keep their devices at home, but the sales figures don’t lie: tablets are still in demand. It seems odd for Google to dismiss the entire category, especially when competitors like Samsung are still pushing out successful tablet models like the Galaxy Tab. Could it be that Google’s failure to design software that truly takes advantage of a larger screen has contributed to its lackluster tablet sales? It’s possible, though the company’s reluctance to admit that the software might be the issue raises some questions.

If you were hoping for a new Google tablet soon, it might be time to pivot to an iPad or Galaxy Tab. These products are still alive and kicking in the tablet market, while Google has decided to wave the white flag – for now, at least.

Your tablet didn’t sell because it was overpriced, poorly marketed, and poorly designed. (Typed on my tablet, btw)

Hopefully, the Pixel hot garbage sees the writing on the wall soon. Not surprised it flopped
